DAS started its Chinese Programme in 2010 and is the only non-profit organisation in Singapore currently providing support to Chinese learners from 7 to 15 years of age with dyslexia. Our programme follows the Orton-Gillingham teaching approach and aims to support students in becoming independent learners through
i. targeted and progressive equipping of our students with specific skills and strategies, and
ii. nurturing of our student’s confidence and interest in the Chinese language.
If you join us, you will find out that there is indeed such a group of children in Singapore, who continue to persevere in the learning of the Chinese language, in spite of the additional and continuous challenges and obstacles they face. We believe that every child has his or her own learning strengths. By applying the right approach and guidance, equipping him/her with the necessary skills and strategies, recognising every achievement and step forward, and developing his/her confidence and interest in the language, every child can overcome the challenges arising from dyslexia. This is the meaningful and critical role that Chinese Educational Therapists play.

If you join our team, you can look forward to:
¨ systematic training on teaching strategies in Chinese and language proficiency;
¨ intensive and sustained mentoring to help you enhance your teaching skills;
¨ a host of opportunities to participate in activities beyond teaching, e.g. curriculum development, school and public awareness talk, language tests, workshops, research – to help you expand your horizons and develop competencies beyond teaching alone; and
¨ getting to know a group of diverse, interesting and supportive team members.
You are required to possess:
ü interest in the Chinese language;
ü willingness to help children overcome difficulties in learning Chinese and build their confidence;
ü perseverance, resilience, ability to work in a team, and love and patience for children.

新加坡读写障碍协会于2010年推出华文课程,是目前本地唯一提供读写障碍华文辅助课程的非盈利教育机构。我们的课程遵循奥顿吉林瀚教学原则,旨在通过有针对性、循序渐进的辅导和语言策略的教授,帮助学生克服语言学习上的困难,提升对华文的信心和兴趣,进而提高语言能力,成为独立的学习者。我们辅助的对象包括7至15岁的孩子。
