Members and Terms of Reference of DAS Committees:

The DAS Board of Directors for FY2024-2025 was re-elected during the Annual General Meeting on 21 September 2024. Our Board is made up of volunteers who give their time and expertise for the benefit of helping dyslexic people and those with specific learning differences. Except for the CEO who is an ex-officio board member, all members are not paid any remuneration or director’s fees. The Board and the committees oversee the Dyslexia Association of Singapore and its subsidiaries, DAS Academy Ltd and DAS International Services Ltd.

Mrs. Goh Chok Tong has been the DAS Patron since 1995.

Mr Lee Siew Pin Eric
Chairman

Mr Eric Lee was appointed as director of DAS Ltd on 26 April 2021 and Chairman on 24 September 2022. He is also on the Board of DAS Academy and DAS International. Mr Lee is the Executive Coach of Career Transitions. He has more than 25 years of experience in the corporate world, mainly holding Human Resource leadership roles in major multinational corporations and established public companies. Exxon (previously Esso), Union Carbide, Cummins Engine Company, Cold Storage Group (now the Dairy Farm Group), the OCBC Bank Group, and Compaq Computer (before the integration with Hewlett-Packard) are among the companies Mr Lee has worked in.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the DAS, Eric Lee has been awarded the prestigious Singapore National Day 2023 Public Service Medal (PBM). The honour comes as a testament to his unwavering dedication and leadership as the Chairman of the DAS.

Mr Eric Lee has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Political Science from the University of Singapore, a Bachelor’s degree in Holistic Nutritional Studies from Clayton College in the US, and is a Certified Columbia Coach from Columbia University, New York.

Outside of coaching and besides his work for the DAS, Eric continues to be involved with the community and voluntary organisations. Mr Eric enjoys seeing and helping people fulfil their full potential in life.

Mr Kevin Kwek
Vice-Chairman

Mr Kevin Kwek was appointed as director of DAS Ltd on 26 April 2021 and Vice-Chairman on 24 September 2022. He joined the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) as an Executive Committee Member in January 2013. He is the founding director of Legal Solutions LLC, a local law firm. He graduated from the University of Keele, England, in 1993 with a Second Class (Upper) Honours Degree in Law and Economics.

Mr Kevin was called to the Singapore Bar in 1995. He was previously working with Drew & Napier, Shook Lin & Bok and Kenneth Tan Partnership (where he was made partner in 1999) prior to setting up Legal Solutions LLC in 2005 where he is currently a Director.

Mr Kwek chairs the Programmes and Services Committee is the Joint Chair of the Special Projects Committee. He is also a member of the Fundraising, Finance and Nominations Sub Committees.

Mr Vincent Chen
Director

Appointed on 26 April 2021

Mr Vincent Chen was one of the first DAS Executive Committee Members and played a leading role in the drafting of the original DAS Constitution. He is currently our Honorary Treasurer. He is also a member of the Building Committee and the Finance Committee. Mr Chen is also active in several other voluntary welfare organisations including Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital and Rainbow Centre.

Mr Chen spent 17 years in the banking industry with First National Bank of Chicago, Bank of America and Banque Francaise du Commerce Exterieur. Subsequently, in 1988 he co-founded a financial consulting firm, Sidi, Chen & Associates. Since 1993, he has been managing his personal and family investments. In recent years Mr Chen has served as an independent director for a number of Singapore public listed companies.

Mr Chen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Mr Kaka Singh s/o Dalip Singh

Mr Kaka Singh is the Senior Partner and Chairman of RSM Chio Lim LLP. Having been in international accounting, Mr Singh has a wealth of experience and his work includes consultancy relating to accounting and auditing matters including those for the charity sector. He has extensive experience in IPO assignments, company secretarial matters, corporate governance issues, training and staff development. Before joining RSM Chi Lim LLP in 2000, Mr Singh was a senior partner at a Big 4 firm.

He is a regular speaker at conferences & seminars and has held many key positions in various accounting bodies. In 2010, Kaka was awarded the inaugural ACCA Award in recognition of his tireless dedication and contribution to the accounting profession; he was awarded the Silver Medal of the ISCA.

In 2022, Kaka received the esteemed Public Service Medal, Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM), bestowed upon him by the President of the Republic of Singapore, recognizing his remarkable dedication to charities.

Mr Kaka Singh chairs the Finance Sub Committee and the Human Resources Sub Committee.

Ms Wong May-Lyn

Ms Wong May-Lyn joined the Dyslexia Association of Singapore as an Executive Committee Member in September 2018. She is a member of the programmes and services, human resources and fundraising sub-committees.

Ms May-Lyn was previously a language and literacy curriculum specialist. In her work at the Ministry of Education, she led project teams in developing both the primary school English and kindergarten language and literacy curricula. Her experience includes designing instructional materials and developing content for teachers’ professional development. Her work as a Principal Education Development Specialist at NTUC First Campus focused on the language and literacy curriculum for the preschool years.

Ms May-Lyn holds a Master of Education (English Language) from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from the Wheelock College Centre for International Education, Leadership, and Innovation, Boston, USA.

Dr Zubin Daruwalla
Director

Appointed on 26 April 2021

Dr Zubin Jimmy Daruwalla is currently the Health Industries Leader, in PricewaterhouseCooper's, Singapore. After graduating with honours from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2005, Zubin commenced and continued his practice of medicine in Dublin. He subsequently pursued a career in orthopaedic surgery and was awarded the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MRCSI) in 2008 followed by a Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery (MCh, Orth) in 2010. After working at the UK's John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Zubin moved back to Singapore in 2012 and joined the National University Hospital as an orthopaedic resident. He has since successfully completed the National University Singapore (NUS) degree, Masters of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (MMed, Orth) and was a senior resident and orthopaedic registrar before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Having published extensively over the last decade with more than thirty publications to his name, including being an invited author for Economic Times, Zubin continues to write actively with his current passion for medical education and digital health evident by his engagement as a consultant and advisor to start-ups both locally as well as internationally. As a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland's mentor network, Zubin also continues to be sought by medical students both locally as well as internationally for advice. As a healthcare thought leader and strong believer in collaboration, Zubin hopes to help bridge the gap between the technical and clinical sides within the realm of digital health. And in order to not neglect his love of providing good and affordable healthcare which he holds closest to his heart, Zubin continues to practice medicine on a part-time basis in addition to providing his services fortnightly at a clinic dedicated to the less fortunate.

Dr Daruwalla also serves on the DAS Finance, Fundraising and Programmes and Service Sub Committees.

Mr Jim Lee
Director

Appointed on 26 April 2021

Mr Jim Lee joined the Dyslexia Association of Singapore as an Executive Committee Member in September 2018. He is a member of the Audit Committee, Human Resources Committee and the Programmes and Services Committee. Mr Lee also advises the DAS on how to incorporate technology to increase effectiveness and efficiency.

Mr Lee has a background in management consulting and technology. As a Manager at A.T. Kearney, he led projects to transform both Fortune 500 multinational companies and government organizations. He also has experience working at Chevron and Google where he led projects to develop and execute IT strategies.

Mr Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley as well as a Master of Business Administration from the Stern School of Business of New York University.
