Danzril, a young boy with a passion for the arts, has found an inspiring way to channel his energy and creativity through Chinese Drumming. His mother, Faridah, shares the heartwarming story behind his journey into this vibrant cultural activity.
A Spark of Interest
Danzril’s fascination with lion dance was the spark that ignited his interest in Chinese drumming. He enjoyed watching lion dance performances on YouTube, so when his teacher introduced a collaboration with The TENG Company for Chinese Drumming, his mother saw it as an opportunity for him to explore his passion further. Faridah encouraged him to participate, and little did they know that this decision would lead to an incredible transformation.
Fostering Growth Through Creative Exploration
Faridah has always encouraged her children to explore different cultures through the arts. She believes that exposure to a variety of cultural experiences broadens their horizons, nurtures creativity, and helps them discover new interests. She sees this as an essential part of their growth. Creativity, she believes, is something that can be developed over time by providing them with diverse experiences, and this, in turn, fosters a genuine passion for learning.
Embracing Creativity Leading to Self-discovery
As a child with dyslexia, Danzril has discovered a lot about himself through his creative journey. His journey in Chinese Drumming has helped him realise his love for other forms of art such as drawing, dance, and music. These activities have given him a way to express himself and thrive despite the challenges he faces.
When asked about his experience with Chinese Drumming, Danzril talks about the joy he feels when he’s playing the drum, particularly the thrill of creating different sounds. Although performing in front of others can be challenging, especially when it comes to remembering the steps for the performance, he enjoys the process and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it.
Danzril’s story is a beautiful example of how creativity can open doors, break barriers, and help students overcome challenges.Â
