Speech and Drama Arts Spotlight: Kayleen Keong

Every child’s journey is special, and for Kayleen, her path through the Speech and Drama Arts (SDA) programme has been one of growth, courage, and joy.

Finding Her Voice

When Kayleen first joined the SDA programme, her mother, Mdm Stacey, hoped it would help her daughter express herself and become more confident in speaking up. Over time, those hopes were beautifully fulfilled. Since starting the programme, Kayleen has grown in confidence and,  most surprisingly, has shown no signs of stage fright. It is a remarkable change for a child who once hesitated to speak in public.

Kayleen’s creativity has also flourished in unexpected ways. Mdm Stacey has been delighted to see her daughter’s willingness to try, even when faced with challenges, and has been pleasantly surprised when Kayleen came home improvising dialogues or sharing new lessons she picked up during her SDA classes. These moments have highlighted not only Kayleen’s imagination but also her determination and resilience.

The Anticipation For Her Debut

As she prepares for her upcoming performance at the DAS Student Talent Showcase: Gift of Wonders, Kayleen is excited about all she has gained from the experience. Being part of the talent show has given her the chance to make new friends, work together with others, and continue building her public speaking skills.

Most importantly, the thought of having her family and friends in the audience fills Kayleen with happiness and even more confidence. Knowing they will be there to support her has made the experience all the more meaningful.

An Courageous Artist Unleashed

Kayleen’s journey with the DAS Speech and Drama Arts programme is a shining example of how the right support can help children overcome challenges, build confidence, and discover their unique voices. As the stage lights come on at the upcoming showcase, Kayleen won’t just be performing — she will be celebrating just how far she has come and the strength she has found within herself.
