DAS to conduct home-based classes for 2 weeks

DAS ADVISORY – 20 MARCH 2020

Dear DAS Parents,
MOE has requested that DAS conduct home-based classes for your child in Term 2, Week 1 and Week 2.  This is part of their effort to reduce after school activities, avoid children from different schools being together and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus immediately after the March school holidays.  This is for the good of our students and DAS will be responding as requested.  This is what you can expect:
  1. It is important to us that your child’s learning and improvement is not disrupted so all DAS group classes by Educational Therapists including the Main Literacy Programme, Preschool, Chinese, Maths, Science, etc will be delivered via online platforms or take-home learning packages for Term 2, Week 1 and 2.
  2. Before the school holidays, at the end of Term 1, your DAS Educational Therapist would have familiarised your child with the use of Google Hangouts in case we had to deliver our classes online.  A reminder about online learning and other specific instructions on take-home packages will be sent to you for your child in the next few days.
  3. All DAS learning centres will continue to be open and your child’s Educational Therapist will be working from and conducting their classes from their DAS learning centres.
  4. You can, therefore, contact DAS staff at the learning centres during operating hours if you have any queries or require clarification.
I am aware that some of you may have reservations about online classes but as mentioned before, we must not let the current situation stop our children from learning and I urge all parents to support this initiative and help your child access the value of online learning.  You will also have the benefit of observing your child learning while the classes are in session.
Please feel free to contact DAS staff if you have more questions.  Let’s work together for the benefit of our children.  I thank you for your support and cooperation.
Warm regards
