Japheth is a bright and enthusiastic boy who is excited to be part of the DAS Student Talent Showcase: Gift of Wonders for the second time!
This year, he is once again showcasing his passion for Chinese Drumming, thanks to a collaboration with The TENG Company.
A Meaningful Pastime
Japheth’s journey with Chinese Drumming began when his parents wanted to instill in him the values of teamwork and discipline. Recognising that his school does not offer drumming as an extracurricular activity, they encouraged Japheth to pursue this musical interest outside of school. His parents believed that learning a musical instrument would not only provide him with a valuable way to spend his weekends but also help him grow as an individual.

Adept At Drumming
The family’s support has been unwavering, and Japheth has thrived in this environment. After each drumming class, he eagerly returns home and shares his experiences with his parents, recounting the fun and excitement he feels when he plays the drums. One of the most delightful surprises for Japheth’s father was when his son was able to memorise the complex rhythms of the drums after just a few classes. Japheth’s natural ability and dedication to his craft have left his parents in awe.
Despite his talent, Japheth still feels nervous at the thought of performing for a crowd. However, the excitement of showing off his ability far outweighs any stage fright. As Japheth prepares for the Gift of Wonders, he can’t help but tease his audience with a little secret: There’s a special surprise at the end of the Chinese Drumming performance that is sure to leave everyone in awe!

Japheth’s story is one of perseverance, passion, and the power of a supportive family. Through Chinese Drumming, he has not only honed his musical skills but also developed a deeper appreciation for teamwork, patience, and hard work.
