Artwork Description: I was asked to draw a flower, but one flower didn’t feel like enough. So I kept drawing more and more, making sure each one stood tall and shone brightly. Every flower is different, just like every learner with dyslexia. Although they may learn in different ways, each one has unique strengths, beauty, and the potential to flourish when given the opportunity to grow.
Artist Biography: Anya is a creative 10-year-old who finds joy and confidence through art. For her, art is more than a hobby, it is a safe space where she can express herself freely without fear of being judged.
Growing up, Anya struggled with reading and spelling. While learning seemed easy for her classmates, letters and words often appeared jumbled, leaving her confused and frustrated. She did not understand why learning was so difficult.
After joining the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS), Anya received the specialised support she needed. With patient guidance and encouragement, her confidence grew, and she made remarkable progress. Today, she has gone from struggling to spell to achieving almost full marks in her spelling tests.
Anya’s journey shows that with the right support, every child can overcome challenges, discover their strengths, and thrive. Through her artwork, she continues to share her resilience, creativity, and hope with others.

Artwork Description: Parrots are remarkable creatures. They can repeat words without always understanding them, and they often understand far more than they can express. In many ways, this reflects the experience of many children with dyslexia and the families who support them.
Dyslexia is not a measure of intelligence, creativity, or imagination. Those qualities can shine brilliantly, bold, vibrant, and full of possibility, just like the colors in this painting. This work celebrates neurodiversity, inviting us to see dyslexia not as something to overcome or conceal, but as a different way of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world.
Painted with bold, unblended strokes, the composition intentionally resists perfect order. The colors speak with confidence where words may sometimes hesitate, reminding us that there are a thousand ways to communicate, connect, and be understood.

Chloe Elaine Chai Rui Qi is a young artist who embraces art as a language of creativity, curiosity, and connection. Drawn to visual storytelling from an early age, she expresses her imagination through works that reflect joy, wonder, and an enduring curiosity about the world around her.
Inspired by illustrated stories and comics, Chloe has cultivated her passion through formal art education, steadily building confidence while exploring a range of artistic styles and techniques.
Most recently, she participated in a Chinese painting outreach programme at Chung Cheng High School, where she explored traditional Chinese painting alongside the Western painting techniques she has been developing. The experience deepened her appreciation of Chinese art and cultural heritage and inspired her to continue exploring its rich artistic traditions.
A Primary 5 student at CHIJ Katong Primary School, Chloe embraces every opportunity to learn, create, and grow. Through her artwork, she hopes to share the joy of creativity, foster kindness and inclusion, and celebrate art’s unique ability to bring people together.

Selina’s artistic journey began at the age of three, when her parents introduced her to drawing and painting as an alternative form of communication during speech rehabilitation at KK Hospital. This early exposure nurtured a lifelong passion for doodling and creative expression.
Passionate about acrylic painting and handicrafts, Selina enjoys exploring different artistic techniques. Her latest artwork features a unique technique that uses leaf stamping to tell a powerful story.
Selina is deeply honoured to contribute her artwork to the DAS 35th Anniversary Charity Golf & Dinner event. Through her art, she hopes to inspire others and raise awareness about the strengths and potential of individuals with dyslexia.
