Kanissha joined the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) in 2024 as a Science Flexi-Educational Therapist.
In her role, Kanissha teaches Science to learners with diverse learning needs, prioritising strong rapport, engagement, and accessibility in every lesson. She believes that learning is not just about mastering a subject, but about understanding how students learn best. Her teaching approach focuses on making learning meaningful and enjoyable through hands-on activities, visual supports, storytelling, and interactive strategies tailored to each learner. Beyond teaching, Kanissha actively contributes to reflective practice and organisational improvement through class observations and written reports, offering insights on how Science instruction at DAS can continue to evolve and better support students.
Kanissha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, where she developed a strong foundation in psychological theory and research methods. She performed consistently well throughout her undergraduate studies and continues to build on this knowledge in her professional practice. She aspires to pursue the path of a practitioner-scientist and researcher, bridging evidence-based research with real-world educational practice. Passionate about making learning accessible, Kanissha enjoys designing and adapting Science resources to help students engage with concepts more effectively
Kanissha has also contributed to the research on students’ attitudes towards learning and self-efficacy, conducted Science class observations, and produced reflective reports to support instructional improvement. Beyond her research and teaching contributions, Kanissha has actively represented DAS at the MENDAKI Festival, engaging with the community at the outreach booth, and she also emceed the DAS Student Graduation Ceremony 2025. In recognition of her dedication, she was also awarded the CEO Commendation Award.
