Different paths, same struggle — from university lecture halls to preschool classrooms, managing time and energy is no easy task. For Kayli Hoe and Yannie Soo, the constant juggle of responsibilities often led to procrastination and overwhelm. Hoping to regain a sense of control, both turned to DAS’ iWorkSmart™ programme in search of practical strategies to stay on track and thrive.
Empowering Through Understanding
Kayli, a student at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), first discovered iWorkSmart™ during a DAS Academy workshop hosted on campus. “I had been trying to get an adult ADHD diagnosis, which has been quite challenging,” she shared. Balancing full-time work, her counselling studies, and personal commitments often left her feeling drained and overwhelmed.
What stood out to her in the programme was learning how the brain works. “There were many strategies shared, and participants could choose what was relevant to them and try them out,” she said. For Kayli, the ability to break down tasks into manageable chunks became a practical way to tackle her day-to-day responsibilities without feeling overburdened.
Supporting Others, Starting with Yourself
Yannie, whose work involves engaging with both children and educators in a preschool environment, joined the programme after hearing about it through the DAS mailing list. “I signed up to take away some strategies and skills I could use to help them,” she explained. Like Kayli, she also struggled with procrastination and was eager to improve her time management.
Her biggest takeaway? “Good time management strategies, and the activities were very useful in keeping me engaged,” she said. The hands-on approach helped her not only stay focused but also gave her tools she could apply in her work with others.
A Shared Journey Towards Progress
Despite coming from different walks of life, both Kayli and Yannie found common ground in their desire to improve, grow, and support those around them. Whether it was through brain-based strategies or practical time management tools, iWorkSmart™ offered them a safe, supportive environment to reflect, learn, and take actionable steps forward.
Their journeys remind us that with the right support, anyone can take charge of their time, energy, and attention — one small step at a time.
