Was at the StartSmall Concert organized by students from River Valley High School on Sunday night, 26 November. There was also a carnival earlier that day. This is the third year in a row that students from RVHS have organised a fund raiser for DAS and we are most appreciative of their efforts.
It has also been some time that middle-aged me attended an event wholly organised by young people. I must admit I was really impressed by the creativity, talent and energy on display! Some of that energy must have passed on as I left the concert feeling recharged. I guess this is what it means to be young! I also shared with the students that when I was their age, I am pretty sure I would not have been able to organise a similar effort so very well done to them!
At the national level, it is also incredibly heartening that our young people are growing up with a well rounded education and being encouraged by their teachers to seek worthy causes, build social networks and experience organisation and management! That Singaporean students learn only through rote learning is increasingly a myth.
