CEO Thoughts: Another amazing end to the year!

What is known as Term 4 Week 11 at DAS is usually an extremely busy period filled with events, screening sessions, school holiday workshops. Inevitably, the two larger events, the Speech and Drama Arts Performance (Tues 21 Nov) and the Student Graduation and Achievement Awards Ceremony (Sat 25 Nov) took centrestage.

The Speech and Drama Arts Performance at the Gateway Theatre reminded us that children with dyslexia, while they may find learning to read and spell challenging, they nonetheless have many strengths and this was clearly demonstrated by the 40 students who performed with such confidence and courage!

The many strengths of those with dyslexia was echoed at the Graduation and Achievement Awards Ceremony at Kallang Theatre ! The president of the DAS alumni Keshvinn Naidu gave a wonderful speech without notes encouraging our graduates to return and contribute to DAS. Keshvinn has overcome his difficulties and is now pursuing a diploma in business studies. Young Achiever Award recipient Tan Wei Shan proudly shared his achievements as a budding chef winning international competitions.

That night after the ceremony, our beloved patron Mrs Goh Chok Tong was obviously thinking of us as she contacted me late. She was very touched by the tremendous efforts of DAS staff and has offered to buy us lunch! Thank you Mrs Goh!
